Officially launched in March 2018, the Asian Lubricant Manufacturers Union (ALMU) is the principal voice representing the combined knowledge and expertise of lubricant manufacturers throughout the region.  It seeks to promote industry best practices and guidance on ethical standards; develop effective education and communication initiatives to delineate advice, news, legislative change, and encourage professional development.

ALMU has a membership strength of over 120 members from more than 20 countries, comprising of independent lubricant manufacturers, major and national oil companies, and suppliers. It is also closely affiliated with established global industry associations.

The Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) is a voluntary organization of the shipowner associations of Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and the Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Associations comprising shipping associations of ASEAN countries. The aims of the ASA are to promote the interests of Asian shipowners. Between annual ASA meetings, the ongoing work is carried out by five Standing Committees: The Seafarers Committee (SC), the Ship Insurance and Liability Committee (SILC), the Safe Navigation and Environment Committee (SNEC), the Shipping Policy Committee (SPC), and the Ship Recycling Committee (SRC). It has been estimated that ASA shipowners and managers control and operate around 50% of the world’s cargo carrying fleet.

The Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) is a non-profit trade organisation formed in 1968 to promote the interests and advancement of the marine and offshore engineering industry in Singapore.

ASMI represents companies in the business of ship repair, ship conversion, ship building, rig building and offshore engineering. Its membership comprises shipyards, manufacturers and suppliers of marine & offshore equipment and components. ASMI members also include marine & offshore engineering companies, marine consultants and contractors as well as classification societies. The Association has a membership strength of 250 corporate members.

BIMCO is the world’s largest direct-membership organisation for shipowners, charterers, shipbrokers and agents. In total, around 60% of the world’s merchant fleet is a BIMCO member, measured by tonnage (weight of the unloaded ships). With around 1900 member companies across 120 countries – from the largest shipowners in the world to small local port agents and law firms, BIMCO represents a wide range of maritime companies and organisations.

Formed in 1992, IBIA has a worldwide membership across the bunker industry value chain, including ship owners, bunker suppliers, traders, brokers, testing and surveyor companies, credit reporting companies, lawyers, port authorities & journalists. It provides an international forum to address the issues and concerns of all sectors of the international bunker industry. IBIA promotes improved knowledge and standards in the industry and seeks to involve, motivate and engage with its members through events, working groups and information to ensure mutual learning and understanding. IBIA also lobbies for effective, pragmatic and workable regulations. It has consultative NGO status at the IMO and is present at all meetings of MEPC, MSC & relevant sub-committees.

INTERTANKO is the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners, a forum where the industry meets, policies are discussed and best practices developed. INTERTANKO has been the voice of independent tanker owners since 1970, ensuring that the liquid energy that keeps the world turning is shipped safely, responsibly and competitively.

The Association actively works on a wide range of operational, technical, legal and commercial issues affecting tanker owners and operators around the world. It draws on regular and direct contact with its Members and other industry stakeholders to develop and disseminate information and best practice essential to the tanker industry.

IMarEST is the largest marine organisation of its kind with a worldwide membership based in over 120 countries. It is a registered charity and provides grades of membership for everyone, from those seeking to become Chartered or gain other Professional Recognition, to those just starting out in their careers or studying in education.

The Singapore Chemical Industry Council Limited (SCIC) is the official industry association representing the Singapore Energy and Chemicals cluster in the private sector. It plays a proactive role in representing the interests of this manufacturing sector with a membership network of more than 170 companies comprising of key multi-national corporations and small & medium enterprises that support the entire chemical industry supply chain.

SCIC is appointed by the national standards body, Enterprise Singapore, as the Standards Development Organisation (SDO) to manage the Chemical Standards Committee (CSC) and Environment & Resources Standards Committee (ERSC). The Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) is a specialist arbitration institution for the resolution of maritime and international trade disputes. It is guided by its principal aim of providing a comprehensive set of non-administered arbitration rules with optional features. SCMA offers the maritime and international trade communities a neutral, cost-effective and flexible framework to resolve their disputes fairly and expeditiously.

The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established to promote safety and industry best practice in the use of gas as a marine fuel. The Society has Consultative Status with the IMO and is governed by a representative Board and driven by two principal Committees. SGMF has several working groups at any one-time solving issues and producing outputs such as Guidelines and checklists for the industry. The Society has produced ten ISBN publications, has over 140 international members ranging from energy majors, port authorities, fuel suppliers through to equipment manufacturers and classification societies.
